Scott A. Roney Elected ADM Vice President, Corporate Compliance And Regulatory Affairs

    DECATUR, Ill., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Archer Daniels Midland Company
 (NYSE:   ADM) ("ADM") announced today that Scott A. Roney has been elected Vice
 President, Corporate Compliance and Regulatory Affairs.  Scott has been
 charged with overseeing the newly-formed Corporate Compliance and Regulatory
 Affairs Department to promote integrity, including legal compliance, in the
 conduct of ADM's business and to oversee interaction with governmental
 regulators world-wide.  The new department will assume functions currently
 performed in the Compliance Department, which will be superceded, as well as
 certain functions currently within the Industrial Regulatory Affairs
 Department.  This restructuring will consolidate ADM's compliance activities
 and create the resources to broaden ADM's approach to organizational
 integrity.  Scott will report to John D. McNamara, President.
     Scott, 36, has served in ADM's Law Department since 1991, most recently as
 Corporate Counsel.  Scott is a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, Mt. Vernon,
 Illinois.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Illinois
 State University, summa cum laude in 1986 and a Juris Doctor from the
 University of Michigan Law School, magna cum laude in 1989.  He and his wife
 Cheryl have three children and live in Decatur.
