Search Engine Developer Mondosoft Lands $3.6 Million Investment

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Mondosoft

NEW YORK, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Mondosoft, a developer of search
engines for large Web sites and enterprise portals, announced today a
$3.6 million investment from current owners and investors.
The capital injection follows two recent announcements that show Mondosoft
is staged for consistently strong global growth. The first announcement
centered on Microsoft's selection of the MondoSearch search engine as a
certified software product for Microsoft Commerce Server 2000. The second
announcement was the launch of MondoSearch 4.1, a version suited for corporate
intranets and enterprise portals. MondoSearch 4.1 won Best of Show runner-up
honors at Internet World Spring 2001.
MondoSearch is an advanced, easy-to-use search engine for large Web sites.
It enables comprehensive searches through both static HTML documents and
dynamic Web pages. It can search in 12 languages and in multiple file
formats. MondoSearch presents search results in logical categories, making it
easier for Web site visitors to find relevant information. An optional add-
on, the Behavior Tracking Module, enables Web site owners to determine
specifically what information users are looking for when they come to a site,
what search terms they employ and the degree of success the users achieve in
 their searches.
This third round of funding brings the total capital invested in Mondosoft
to about $18 million over a period of 18 months. Owners include employees,
members of executive management, DICO, Gilde Investment of the Netherlands,
Vertex of Singapore, Danish Venture Finance and KP Insurance Company of
 Denmark.
"Mondosoft is a brilliant company with a brilliant ability to interpret
trends and developments in the Internet software market at a very early stage
and to turn these into tangible products," said Erik Averink, fund manager of
 Gilde Investment in the Netherlands.
"Most navigation tools appear to be based on how IT experts think,"
Averink said. "Mondosoft is unique in having grasped how the Internet will be
driven forward by everyday users, and it has succeeded in developing search
tools which are intuitive and easily accessible to everyone. We are confident
that Mondosoft will remain a very important force in this market niche."
Over the last two years, Mondosoft has built a solid position as a world
leader in corporate Web-site search engine solutions. The launch of the
MondoSearch coincided with the surge in demand for user-friendly Web sites
with easy-to-navigate structures. Mondosoft now has more than 1,500
organizations and companies as clients, mainly in Northern Europe and the
United States. In addition, many more companies are testing trial versions of
 the product.
Late last year, Mondosoft entered into cooperation with Microsoft,
allowing Mondosoft to offer MondoSearch in integration with Microsoft Commerce
Server 2000. This cooperation with Microsoft creates a significant sales
potential for MondoSearch, and has been interpreted as a seal of quality for
 Mondosoft by investors and analysts.
"To be able to cooperate with Microsoft gives us a stronger position in
the market and strengthens our business," said Laust Sondergaard, Mondosoft
 CEO.
This announcement comes on the heels of Mondosoft announcing the new
version of its product, MondoSearch 4.1. MondoSearch 4.1 expands the reach of
Mondosoft's site search technology to inside the walls of corporations,
allowing employees to conduct meaningful searches on internal Web sites and
 enterprise portals.

     About Mondosoft
Mondosoft's mission is to make the Internet easier to navigate for all its
users, and Web sites simpler to operate for their owners. Mondosoft's
business model is built around a concept of providing outsourced and remotely
maintained Internet software solutions to companies worldwide through
strategic partnerships and Application Service Providers (ASP). Mondosoft's
first product release was MondoSearch(TM), an advanced, multilingual search
engine (patent pending) for corporate Web sites. Mondosoft A/S was founded in
Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1998 and soon after opened its U.S. operation,
Mondosoft Inc., with headquarters in New York City. Mondosoft is owned by
 private individuals and investment funds.
