Second Quarter Dividends Declared for Sprint FON Group

    KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of
 Sprint has declared regular second quarter dividends for the Sprint FON Group
 (NYSE:   FON).  A dividend of 12.5 cents per share on Sprint FON Common Stock,
 Series 1 was declared and will be paid June 29, 2001, to shareholders of
 record at the close of business, June 8, 2001.  The FON Group is composed of
 Sprint's Global Markets segment, Local Telecommunications Division and product
 distribution and directory publishing businesses.
