SemaVision BSCS Version 6 Achieves Best-Ever Customer Care And Billing Performance Results Running on Compaq AlphaServer GS320

Apr 24, 2001, 01:00 ET from Sema

LONDON, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sema Telecoms' integrated customer care
and billing solution, SemaVision BSCS Version 6 has achieved record-setting
processing throughput running on the Compaq AlphaServer(TM) GS Series in
global performance tests. The test results demonstrate SemaVision BSCS's
capability to support the world's largest telecommunications operators in
handling increased data volume and complexity associated with 3G product and
 services.
Running on Compaq's AlphaServer GS320 Tru64(TM) UNIX Version 5.1, the
tests prove that SemaVision BSCS Version 6 has the capability, on a single
node, to rate 150 million CDRs (call detail records) per hour, to bill more
than 44 million call records per hour and produce more than 293,000 itemised
invoices per hour. The end-to-end processing throughput results are the best
ever achieved in an Oracle production environment.
The tests were conducted jointly by Sema and Compaq teams. The global
performance tests were held in a live production environment of mixed
subscriber types and discounts, making the results representative of the true
system performance. Measurement was made of the complete rating and billing
cycle, with the final result of printed bills for the subscribers in the
 database.
Mitesh Desai, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for
Compaq's Telecom Division, said, "Sema and Compaq have partnered for many
years in many different industries. Together, we have built a global customer
base that expects high value solutions from us. In telecommunications,
billing and customer care are becoming especially important as carriers move
to more complex 3G networks. With today's news, Sema and Compaq are again
demonstrating that we deliver the high value solutions that our fast-moving
 customers need."
"We are very pleased with the results achieved by the performance tests.
SemaVision BSCS Version 6 was capable to rate and bill at unprecedented speed
from call collection all the way to bill production. These tests have proven
that together with Compaq's AlphaServer GS Series our complete rating and
billing solutions can support the world's largest telecommunications operators
in the 3G marketplace. Both Compaq and Sema are benefiting from these
practical real environment tests, as they allow operators a true example of
both systems' performance. We will continue to closely co-operate in this
area," commented Gianni Linari, Managing Director of Sema Telecoms.
