Apr 04, 2001, 01:00 ET from Semprio

    BOSTON, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Semprio, a Boston-based buying group with
a growing suite of business products and services for small and medium-sized
businesses, announced today that it is offering its customers same-day
delivery services using Veredex's Hotship application. By integrating with
Hotship, Semprio will provide its customers with preferred access to the
Veredex Logistics Network, the largest network of same-day delivery suppliers.
For Semprio's customers, the alliance brings new levels of convenience to
the often-complicated same-day shipping process. Using Veredex's proprietary
Hotship system, customers will have the advantage of optimum supplier
selection. They will be able to choose a delivery supplier for each shipment
based on service levels, price and performance. Customers can compare, ship,
and track their shipments - all online - through a single site. Finding the
right supplier for shipping to multiple locations can be managed simply and
 efficiently.
To facilitate the alliance, Veredex has integrated with Semprio via the
Ariba Market Network Enterprise Edition. Ariba, Semprio, and Veredex
collaborated to devise a seamless solution for creating an effective user
 interface.
Semprio President Paul Hardy commented, "We launched Semprio to help small
and medium-sized businesses leverage their buying power for supplies and
services-from both national and local vendors. By utilizing Veredex's unique
shipping application, our customers now have preferred access to delivery
services across town and across the country, meaning less hassle and
 significant savings."
"More companies are recognizing the benefit of automating their same-day
shipping operations," said Court Carruthers, Senior Vice President, Business
Development, Veredex Logistics. "Services like Semprio make it easier for
companies to actually incorporate same-day procurement into their overall
purchasing pattern. This integration provides additional benefits to the user
in the form of consolidation and control."
Semprio's customers benefit from conveniences such as desktop access, a
streamlined buying process and localized customer service. Products and
services are provided directly to office managers and administrative staff
through a web site that is supported by local account service managers and
 customer service professionals.
Semprio's current suppliers include Corporate Express, the world's largest
business-to-business supplier of office products and services, Atlantic
Coffee, a kitchen and vending supplier, and Flowers Online, the market leader
in establishing advanced business-to-business e-commerce initiatives in the
 floral industry.
