WASHINGTON, Oct. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Senator Blanche Lincoln, Chairwoman of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) coalition, Small Businesses for Sensible Regulations, released the following statement in advance of the Republican Presidential Debate in Las Vegas, NV:

"Tonight, as the Republican contenders for President of the United States square off in Nevada, they will have the opportunity to pitch their jobs plans and proposals for jumpstarting the economy directly to the American people.  One area I hope they'll focus on is restoring balance to the federal regulatory process.

"America's small businesses are feeling the pinch from the increase in complex and costly regulations over the past five years. Whether it's EPA moving the goalpost on permissible farm dust levels or mandating costly lead renovation training and testing for plumbers, construction workers, and contractors, small businesses in particular are strapped with the prospect of higher compliance costs and uncertainty that has prevented them from creating needed jobs and growth.  As the voting block that employs 60 percent of the private sector workforce, our national leaders must heed the call of small businesses."

A project of the National Federation of Independent Business, Small Businesses for Sensible Regulations is a national effort focused on protecting small businesses and American jobs from the impacts of regulations recently proposed by the Obama administration.  The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan small business association representing small and independent businesses in all 50 state capitals. NFIB's mission is to promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses.
