    BOSTON, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- SGI (NYSE:   SGI), known worldwide for

 solutions, today announced that it is opening a microprocessor design center
 in Boston.
     Engineers at the Boston microprocessor design center will focus on
 transistor-level very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuit and mask design.
 These circuits will be used to power SGI's high-end CPUs based on MIPS(R)
 processors, which drive SGI(TM) high-performance servers, supercomputers and
 graphics systems.
