Nov 05, 2003, 00:00 ET from Silicon Graphics, Inc.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SGI (NYSE: SGI)
today announced a reseller agreement with ViewSonic Corp., a worldwide visual
display products leader. SGI will offer the ViewSonic(TM) VP2290b, a 9.2 mega
pixel display with awe-inspiring depth and clarity, for use with two new,
highly advanced Silicon Graphics(R) high-performance computer systems.
SGI's agreement with ViewSonic follows the groundbreaking release of two
affordable visual compute systems, the Silicon Graphics(R) Onyx4(TM)
UltimateVision(TM), the world's largest and most powerful advanced
visualization system, and the Silicon Graphics(R) Tezro(TM) visual
workstation, a powerhouse system that sets a new bar for performance and
reliability. When coupled with the extraordinarily detailed widescreen
ViewSonic display, the Onyx4 and the Tezro rackmount configuration will
greatly benefit numerous SGI customers in government and defense, sciences,
 manufacturing, energy and media industries.
"SGI Technology Solutions can architect a custom solution that optimizes
the power of SGI's new systems by integrating hardware, software, services and
support for maximum impact and productivity to our customers," said
Terry Oberdank, vice president of SGI Technology Solutions. "Combining the
strength of SGI technology with complementary technology such as the ViewSonic
VP2290b display, our custom solutions address the most demanding visualization
requirements from customers. We leverage SGI expertise in advanced
visualization to help customers accomplish complex visualization feats and
ensure their maximum productivity for improved time to insight." SGI
Technology Solutions organization offers a broad range of custom solutions,
services, and support to customers worldwide.
"Packaging the ViewSonic VP2290b display with SGI's systems delivers a
powerful image precision quality that surpasses the extremely high resolution
requirements for visual computing customers," said Jeff Klaas, general
 manager, Business Development, ViewSonic Americas.
ViewSonic's VP2290b is a 22.2-inch digital LCD display that raises image
precision to a new level with 27.6 million-dot (RGB sub-pixel) imagery. The
monitor features an optimum resolution of 3840x2400, 16:10 aspect ratio and
new AGS-1 anti-glare coating that eliminates glare in almost any lighting
situation. The purely digital interface produces artifact-free, photo-
realistic images with vivid HDTV quality colors.
Adding the ViewSonic displays to Silicon Graphics Onyx4 UltimateVision or
Silicon Graphics Tezro rackmount workstation will advance research and
development in various industries by providing a better solution to analyze
satellite, weather and terrestrial data with more precision. For instance,
the intense, high-resolution imaging will enhance aerospace and automotive
designers' ability to engineer safer vehicles and provide doctors and surgeons
with increased clarity in monitoring and performing accurate diagnostics.

     Pricing and Availability
SGI begins immediately offering the ViewSonic VP2290b in the United States
