Shackleton Named 'Legislator of the Year,' Police Officers Association of Michigan Recognizes Lawmaker's Efforts

    REDFORD, Mich., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- State Representative Scott
 Shackleton has been named "Legislator of the Year" by the Police Officers
 Association of Michigan (POAM).  The northern Michigan lawmaker is being
 recognized for his legislative leadership on law enforcement issues.
     "We are pleased to honor Representative Shackleton with this prestigious
 award for his work on behalf of Michigan's law enforcement officers and their
 families," Kenneth E. Grabowski, POAM Legislative Director, said.
     POAM is a full service labor organization servicing the needs of law
 enforcement officers.  The association is operated by full-time officers for
 officers and represents over 11,000 law enforcement employees in Michigan.
     "It is truly an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious
 organization," Shackleton, R-Sault Ste. Marie, said.  "These men and women
 place their lives in danger every single day to keep our families safe.  It is
 only fitting that we do what we can to protect them and their families."
     Shackleton will be presented the honor at the Police Officers Association
