MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Hotelier Keith Menin is reopening the doors to the Shelborne South Beach, an iconic, 1940's deco gem at 1801 Collins Avenue, just in time for Miami Beach's most celebrated annual event. The beachfront playground, which recently underwent a two year long, $20 million overhaul, will debut during Art Basel Miami Beach, reopening to the public with a week of parties, performances, exhibits and events. From November 30-December 4, Bing, the decision engine from Microsoft, will present Art of Night which will include a series of parties and performances each night of Art Basel Miami Beach to celebrate the re-opening of the Shelborne and renowned nightlife photographer, Seth Browarnik, who will be showcasing his iconic celebrity photos at the hotel.

On Wednesday, November 30th, media mogul Jason Binn and his wife Haley will toast to the Art of Night unveiling with an intimate VIP dinner at the Shelborne's Vesper American Brasserie. Following dinner, Bing will celebrate the official Grand Opening of the Shelborne and honor Seth Browarnik and his exhibit with an invite-only party, styled by iconic event producer, Susanne Bartsch, that will begin in the Shelborne's newly renovated lobby and spill outside to the brand new infinity pool.  Bartsch was tapped to bring the theme to life and her creation will feature performance art and outrageous lighting and visuals that will leave guests in awe. Musical team DJ Mia Moretti and violinist Caitlin Moe will perform traditional club music with electronic violin for the classic yet contemporary vibe that defines their world-renowned set. Late night, the Shelborne's legendary basement-level lounge will host revelers for underground karaoke and cabaret all week long from 10pm-6am.

On Thursday, December 1st, at 6pm, The Shelborne's beachside taco and tequila bar, Lucy's Cantina Royale, will host a screening under the stars of award-winning nightlife documentary, Limelight, which chronicles the rise and fall of one of New York's most iconic clubs, Limelight, and its larger-than-life owner, Peter Gatien. The film was a collaborative work between Gatien's daughter, Jen, of DeerJen Films and Alfred Spellman & Billy Corben of Miami-based media studio, Rakontur. Following the screening, Bing will present an intimate, St. Tropez-themed dinner for celebrated design duo, Bob & Cortney Novogratz, who have enlisted 10 artists, including Nathan Carter, Jim Drain, Luis Gispert, Josephine Meckseper & Sarah Morris, to reinterpret 10 iconic chairs in a program called THE CHAIR PROJECT.  Each chair will be presented separately in individual cabanas, creating a row of open galleries along the edge of the Shelborne pool. Come nightfall, genre-transcending pianist, ELEW, will perform an hour-long set of jazz, rock and pop on a custom-created Yamaha piano, specially tuned to accommodate Miami Beach's tropical climate.

On Friday, December 2nd music takes center stage for a night of primetime performances at the Shelborne pool, presented by Bing. Groundbreaking hip hop artist, Theophilus London will perform outside, opening up for the night's main event, Young the Giant. Lucky ticket holders will come out in droves for this intimate poolside performance, which is already being buzzed about as one of the week's most highly anticipated events.

Rounding out the festivities, Miami's iconic glossy lifestyle magazine, Ocean Drive, will host Fete a la Plage, a chic, poolside party on Saturday, December 3rd from 8-11pm at the Shelborne. The magazine, to which Browarnik has contributed since 1999, will close the week in style by celebrating the Art of Night with a St Barths-themed soiree with the artists, celebrities and media that have embraced the magazine for decades. Ocean Drive magazine, which was the pioneer in the region to feature celebrity and society photography, helped make nightlife a stand-alone art form, and can be credited for helping catapult Browarnik to the industry's forefront by allowing him to hone his skill and style within their pages.
