MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Sika Industry's Appliance
Group introduces SikaDamp(R) 607, an acoustic damping material designed
specifically for polypropylene enclosures used in appliances. SikaDamp 607 is
a constrained layer damper of self-adhering butyl rubber in a composite
sandwich with aluminum foil with the thickness of the butyl rubber and foil
specific to each application. SikaDamp 607 provides superior damping
performance to asphalt patch type dampers with considerable weight savings.
SikaDamp 607 acoustic damping material will be of tremendous benefit to
manufacturers of dishwashers and other appliances that use polypropylene tubs.
"With freight costs expected to explode this summer, savings could be
dramatic for large-scale appliance manufacturers who use SikaDamp 607," said
Barry Kutch, Vice President of Sika Industry Appliance Group. "When you are
shipping over a hundred thousand units annually, the improved acoustic damping
plus the considerable weight savings compared to heavy, traditional asphalt
patches, SikaDamp 607 provides both a better appliance and considerable cost
 savings."
