KANSAS CITY, Mo., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Facilities-based carriers ranked Sprint (NYSE: FON, PCS) as the number one
wholesale carrier in this year's comparison study by industry analyst and
consulting group ATLANTIC-ACM. The ATLANTIC-ACM "2001 Wholesale Carrier
Report Card" studied major and emerging wholesale carriers, evaluating the
responses of wholesale customers in six business categories: billing, customer
service, network, pricing, products and provisioning. Sprint ranked among the
top two carriers in several categories and improved its overall scores from
 the previous year's report card.
"At Sprint, we listen to our customers and work with them to stay ahead of
their technology and business practices," said Art MacDowell, vice president
of Sprint's Wholesale Services Group. "We are thrilled that our customers
recognize the efforts we made last year in Wholesale. We also look forward to
helping our customers expand their capabilities even further with our new
 portfolio of data services."
Taher Bouzayen, senior analyst of Wholesale and Broadband services at
ATLANTIC-ACM, said: "Sprint has intelligently leveraged its knowledge of its
customers' needs to create the right synergies for an optimal wholesale
 ecosystem."
Sprint scored first among all carriers for provisioning, a category which
evaluated areas such as carrier speed, support systems and service level
agreements. Sprint also scored well above the industry average in the areas
of customer service and network performance (based on quality, availability
 and disaster recovery).
In support of these categories, Sprint Wholesale enhanced its program last
year with two new e-business tools: DeskTop Manager(SM) III and InfoLink(SM).
These tools give wholesale customers the convenience of performing business
online directly with Sprint, while helping them deliver e-business
capabilities to their own customer base.
Sprint also continued to provide its customers with a highly reliable
network, as 2000 marked the fifth straight year for Sprint to have the fewest
FCC reportable network outages of all major service providers.
