SSET Installs Demo of iP3 Broadband Satellite Gateways for China National Petroleum Corporation

Apr 12, 2001, 01:00 ET from SSE Telecom, Inc.

FREMONT, Calif., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- SSE Telecom, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSET)
a leading provider of broadband satellite products, today announced that it
has installed a system demonstrating its iP3 Gateways at China National
Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in Gu'An, China, near Beijing. SSET iP3 Gateways
are being used to provide high-speed broadband communication over satellite
via Internet Protocol (IP) packets. A live demonstration with iP3 gives CNPC
the opportunity to understand IP traffic over satellite.
Mr. Guiyang Wang, Director of Satellite Communication Center of
Telecommunication Company of CNPC, said, "for us the iP3 represents leading
edge technology for transport of IP over satellite. The iP3 allows easy
configuration and monitor & control from anywhere on the network. The iP3 is
able to deliver mixed-traffic via communication on single carrier at such high
speed and route the traffic to different remotes by IP address in the sky. The
single platform gives us the ability to establish point-to-point link, star
network, or full mesh network by the same hardware. This system is easy to
set-up and bring on-line, which is important to allow us to quickly set up a
 remote network."
Mr. Daryl Mossman, SSET's Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales,
stated, "we are very happy to provide CNPC with an iP3 system, so their
engineers can evaluate the unique features for their vast data and telephony
network. CNPC currently has many VSATs (Very Small Aperture Terminals)
deployed across China, and thus has extensive experience with Satellite
Communications. The iP3 provides much higher bandwidth and more flexibility
than VSATs, since the iP3 Gateways can be configured with asymmetric links
depending on the traffic patterns, which use the satellite bandwidth more
 efficiently."
