Star Jones of 'The View' to Speak at April 24 Unique Lives & Experiences Event

    MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, Minn., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Tuesday,
 April 24, Star Jones, a co-host of the ABC Television show "The View," will
 share what she has learned in the legal and television professions at the 2001
 Star Tribune Unique Lives & Experiences series, presented by Dayton's.  The
 event will be held at Orchestra Hall, at 8 p.m.
     Born in Badin, N.C., and raised there, and in Trenton, N.J., Jones is
 known for her candor and ability to clarify legal issues.  Jones received her
 B.A. at American University and law degree from the University of Houston.
 She worked for the Brooklyn District Attorney's office immediately after
 passing the New York Bar exam on the first try.
     Jones was highly recognized for her work as legal correspondent for the
 "Today" show covering developments in the Mike Tyson rape case and the Rodney
 King police brutality trial.  She also gained attention in the courtroom with
 some highly publicized victories.  Jones was able to get the maximum sentence
 for a 13-year-old boy tried as an adult for murder, and a 66-year prison term
 for the serial sex abuser known as the "Bicycle Rapist."  She also has worked
 as a commentator for Court TV and landed her own syndicated show, "Jones and
 Jury."
