HONOLULU, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hawaii Department of Commerce and
Consumer Affairs -- Professional and Vocational Licensing Division today
announced the launch of online license renewals for over 18,000 nurses,
acupuncturists, and social workers at the State of Hawaii's official website,
 www.eHawaiiGov.org.
The introduction of an online renewal service is part of Governor
Cayetano's initiative that State agencies offer primary government services
through eHawaiiGov, the State's Internet portal. The online renewal system
was designed for the Professional and Vocational Licensing Division by Hawaii
Information Consortium, a subsidiary of eGovernment provider National
Information Consortium (Nasdaq: EGOV) that manages eHawaiiGov for the State of
 Hawaii.
"This is an additional service that the division expects will make the
license renewal process easier and more convenient for our citizens," said Jan
 K. Yamane, Acting Licensing Administrator.
With the new service, citizens can conduct inquiries and renew licenses
online at no additional cost. The Professional and Vocational Licensing
system, which can be accessed online at www.eHawaiiGov.org, will be expanded
to include other license renewal types in the future.
"This license renewal system is part of our effort to move our department
into the Internet age, improve the level of service to the public, and make
our process more efficient," said Kathryn Matayoshi, Director of the Hawaii
Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. "Licensees can renew their
licenses anytime, 24 hours a day and seven days a week, when it's most
 convenient for them."
