Apr 23, 2001, 01:00 ET from Steakhouse Partners, Inc.

    SAN DIEGO, April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Steakhouse Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq: SIZL) today reported that its first
licensee store has successfully opened in Palm Desert, California under the
 brand H. Hunter's Steakhouse.
"We are pleased with the way our new licensee store has opened. Our
training was conducted thoroughly and smoothly, and the build-out and opening
costs were in line with expectations. We see licensing our long-established
Paragon Steakhouse brands as a good way to allow other seasoned restaurateurs
to share in our brand's success, and at the same time create another source of
cash flow generation for Paragon," said Mr. Lee, Chairman and CEO.
"We intend to continue to expand our licensee base this year," concluded
 Mr. Lee.

This news release contains forward-looking statements, which involve risks
and uncertainties, including risks related to Paragon's ability to continue to
expand its licensee program and create additional sources of cash flow, which
could cause actual results to differ materially from the results that may be
indicated by such forward-looking statements. Factors that could cause or
contribute to such differences include, but are not limited to, the market
acceptance of Paragon's licensee program and market conditions in the
steakhouse segment, as well as other risks detailed from time to time in
 Steakhouse Partners' SEC reports.
