Apr 25, 2001, 01:00 ET from Stelax Industries, Ltd.

    DALLAS, April 25 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Stelax
Industries, Ltd. (OTC Bulletin Board: STAX; Nouveau Marche) announces it has
received an agreement for approximately 238 NUOVINOX reinforcing tie bars and
306 NUOVINOX load transfer dowels for an evaluation test program for the State
of Nevada Department of Transportation. The rebar and dowels will be used as
a non-corrosive solution in a retrofit test program at various locations on
I-80 in northeastern Nevada in Elko and Eureka Counties. The program is
scheduled to begin in summer 2001.
NUOVINOX is carbon steel that is cladded with stainless steel and is
priced substantially lower than solid stainless steel. Stelax Industries,
Ltd. makes NUOVINOX rebar, dowels and flat bar.
Harmon Hardy, Chairman and CEO of Stelax Industries, Ltd., said, "We are
extremely pleased with this commitment from the Nevada Department of
Transportation. This is a significant retrofit test project for Nevada that
could lead to an additional 4 miles of dowels and rebar. They will be
assessing the performance and projected life-cycle cost of NUOVINOX."
Mr. Hardy concluded, "Most states spend hundreds of thousands, if not
millions of dollars doing retrofit work on their roads and bridge decks. We
welcome this opportunity to prove NUOVINOX offers greater durability, less
maintenance and repair, longer service life and lower life cycle costs than
 conventional epoxy-coated dowels and rebar."
Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, Stelax Industries produces two separate
product lines through the Aberneath Facility: NUOVINOX, a stainless steel
cladded product with a carbon steel core utilizing the Company's unique
patented manufacturing process and "Stelablast," steel abrasive shot pellets
which are used as an abrasive cleaner and polisher in steel manufacturing.
