Apr 19, 2001, 01:00 ET from Storage Area Networks

CASTLE ROCK, Colo., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Storage Area Networks,
(through its Business Unit, SANZstream Media Services) and Marty Stouffer
Productions announced today that they have executed a letter of intent to
build a system to deliver Stouffer's Wild America film content in digital
 format to a global audience.
The solution will use the SANZstream Content Management Appliances and
Digital Media Manager Software application technology in conjunction with
services from SANZstream alliance partners. The project involves conversion
of the Wild America film library to digital format as well as building out the
infrastructure to host Stouffer's rich media content and enable electronic
distribution to global consumer and business users on demand or on a
 subscription basis.
Stouffer Productions award winning "Wild America" program was among the
top ten rated programs on PBS for many years, and gained the number one rating
a number of times. Wild America has the most comprehensive film library on
North American wildlife with nearly 2000 hours of footage that the Los Angeles
 Times has called "literally breathtaking".
Marty Stouffer said, "We are poised to become the most extensive on-line
library/encyclopedia on North American Wildlife. Digital distribution will
allow us to easily reach a huge audience including home, education, business
and entertainment industry users. The digital format and will allow us to
satisfy demand for our product that we could not address in any other
 fashion."
Steve Davis, Vice President and General Manager of SANZstream Media
Services said, "We are extremely excited to be working with Marty Stouffer on
this Wild America project. We believe that Marty's vision of what can be done
with digital management of his world class content is perfectly aligned with
the direction of this emerging market."
Davis added, "Since we introduced our digital rich media content
management system, last December, we have seen broad and accelerating interest
by potential rich media content providers in video-on-demand and e-learning
markets. We have built a team of alliance partners to ensure that we provide
a complete solution that ranges beyond our core content management system to
include content production and conversion, content storage, management,
streaming and distribution of rich media content across Terrestrial Broadband
 and Satcom worldwide."
John Parker, Senior Analyst for Aberdeen Group commented, "Today's
buildout of high-bandwidth networks already provides exciting opportunities
for the use and re-use of rich-media content, in applications such as public
education and employee training, even as last-mile delivery issues are
hammered out in the consumer market," Parker added, "Storage management is an
urgent issue in developing what we call the 'middle mile' between digital
content creation and consumption. An integrated package of solutions and
services, such as that offered by SANZstream, should significantly improve the
odds of success for content providers."
