CLEWISTON, Fla., Feb. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Every year, the small South Florida city of Clewiston becomes the South's top destination for people buying and selling tractors, trucks, dozers and other equipment. The annual Sugarland Auction, conducted by Weeks Auction Company, has grown steadily over 22 years and is expected to be the biggest ever when the bidding begins February 17 and 18.
"There's really nothing comparable in the South. This features hundreds of pieces from U.S. Sugar Corporation, as well as more than 200 other consignors," said Tim Weeks, whose family owns the auction company. "The event really takes over Clewiston for days as we get the equipment in place, and get it sold. Many bidders plan their year around it, because there's really no other event in the area where they'll have that selection of machines selling at auction," he said.
Equipment will be available for inspection starting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the auction site, located at the end of San Luiz Avenue in Clewiston. Items being sold include farm tractors, excavators, cranes, wheel loaders, loader backhoes, dozers, graders, sprayers and farm instruments.
"Folks will start getting in a few days early to decide what they want to bid on, and many make a vacation of it. We'll start the bidding at 9 a.m. on both days and have two rings going until everything is sold," said Weeks.
