 Calif.
"We applaud all members of the SunTone program for their commitment to
high industry standards. Among the 100 companies offering SunTone certified
solutions today, BellSouth and Digex stand out as exceptional contributors to
improving the quality delivery of web-enabled services," said Tim Dwyer, vice
president of sales development and marketing for Sun's Network Service
Provider Group. "We thank these companies for embracing that commitment to
quality and evangelizing its importance to the industry. It is efforts such
as these that will contribute to the continued success of the outsourced
 services model."
The SunTone Certification and Branding Program provides customers of
Web-based services and applications with a means for identifying suppliers who
meet defined high standards for providing quality service over the Internet.

SUNTONE TECHNICAL CHAMPION AWARD WINNER: DIGEX
Charles Boyle, director of research and development with Digex, received
the SunTone Technical Champion Award for his outstanding contribution in the
development of the SunTone Service Delivery specifications. Boyle was a key
contributor to the development of these specifications which serve as the
foundation upon which the SunTone certification program is built. The
guidelines formed the framework for the specifications for SunTone certified
applications, integrator services and storage services.
Digex was the first Service Provider to achieve SunTone certification for
its managed web and application hosting services. SunTone certification
recognizes Digex's substantial investments in process, methodology and
infrastructure that help to ensure the delivery of secure, reliable and
 predictable Web hosting services.
"If you asked 10 CEOs to define the characteristics of a successful
mission-critical Internet service, the answers would likely vary greatly,"
said Boyle. "It was on this premise that the SunTone program was conceived
-- to remove such uncertainty by defining specifications, mandating service
levels and certifying results of professional service providers. Digex
pioneered managed hosting as a secure, scalable service environment for Web
sites; combining the best practices of traditional data centers with the speed
and responsiveness required by the Internet. The SunTone initiative allowed
us to work with other industry leaders, leveraging our experience, to build
the first comprehensive specification for managing critical Internet
 services."

     SUNTONE MARKETING AWARD WINNER: BELLSOUTH
In January, BellSouth successfully completed SunTone certification of
services offered through its BellSouth e-Business Internet Data Centers.
During the SunTone certification process, BellSouth underwent a rigorous
evaluation of its current and planned e-business services. The company also
created an integrated SunTone marketing plan that included advertising, public
 relations and sales force education.
"SunTone certification has advanced BellSouth's progress toward becoming
one of the leading service providers, better enabling ourselves and our
customers for e-commerce and e-business applications," said Chris Parsons,
senior vice president of marketing with BellSouth. "BellSouth has a history of
providing consistent, reliable dial-tone services, which has given us a solid
reputation upon which to build. We're delighted to be recognized for our part
in evangelizing the importance of SunTone certification, giving our customers
even greater confidence that our e-Business Centers are certified for
 reliability and high quality."
