Sunrise Telecom Answers Customer Calls for TDR Testing 'Light' Version

SunSet xDSL Product Line Adds Time Domain Reflectometer Plug-in for the SunSet

xDSL Light Chassis

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 20 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Sunrise Telecom Incorporated (Nasdaq: SRTI), a leading provider of service
verification equipment for telecommunications and Internet networks, announces
the introduction of a TDR testing module for the Light Chassis version of the
Sunset xDSL. In response to customer input regarding the development of
Sunrise Telecom products, the TDR module was developed to add functionality to
existing Light Chassis units; previously a customer would need to purchase a
Full Chassis unit for TDR testing.
The Time Domain Reflectometer identifies and locates the position of cable
faults by sending an electric pulse down the cable pair and then measuring any
reflections that return. The reflections that return from sending the pulse
are modified by changes in the impedance of the cable. These changes may be
the result of load coils, bridge taps, shorts, opens, and wet cable.
The xDSL Light Chassis is designed as an alternative for technicians who
do not require the comprehensive feature set of the xDSL Full Chassis. The TDR
module was developed in response to customer requests for a simpler,
lower-cost testing unit with limited copper loop troubleshooting capabilities.
The Full Chassis incorporates advanced metallic line testing with Digital
Multimeter (DMM) functions, Insertion Loss measurements, and numerous
 automated procedures.
The entire SunSet xDSL family of test equipment is created to help ensure
timely delivery of Digital Subscriber Line service and associated
technologies. All platforms are inherently modular, offering flexibility for
the customer as their technology, network architecture, and budget changes.
Cost-effective and lightweight, the unique design extends the life of the test
equipment investment and significantly reduces cost of ownership.
