Supervalu Names Jackson Corporate EVP, President and COO of Logistics And Distribution Business

     Michael L. Jackson, 47, who has extensive leadership in both the logistics
 and retail businesses of SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE:   SVU), today was elected to
 corporate executive vice president and president and chief operating officer
 of the company's logistics and distribution operations.
     Since 1999, Jackson has served as corporate senior vice president,
 operations, for eight of the company's retail banners -- Shop 'n Save,
 Shoppers Food Warehouse, Metro, bigg's, Farm Fresh, Laneco, Scott's Foods, and
 Hornbacher's.  Prior to being named a corporate senior vice president at
 retail, he was president of the company's Northwest distribution region from
 1995 to 1999.
