    WESTBOROUGH, Mass., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- SurfControl, the Internet
 Filtering Company(SM), today offered schools qualifying for federal "E-Rate"
 funds a kit to help them comply with a provision of the Children's Internet
 Protection Act that requires public hearings.
     The "Town Meeting in a Box" is designed for technology coordinators,
 educators and other school officials who have applied for federal funds to pay
 for the wiring of schools. The Children's Internet Protection Act, which
 recently took effect, requires schools linking to the Internet to implement
 Internet filtering technology to protect students from inappropriate and
 obscene material.
     The law also requires that so-called "E-rate" funded schools hold a public
 hearing to inform the local community about the school's Internet Safety
 Policy. The Town Meeting in a Box is designed to help schools meet this
 requirement.
     "We have been on the frontlines of Internet safety since schools first
 began wiring for Internet access," said Susan Getgood, Vice President of the
 SurfControl unit that provides Cyber Patrol Internet Filtering software. "We
 know that dedicated educators have embraced the notion of Internet-safe
 classrooms for years. Now, we've taken our knowledge of schools, safety and
 the law and created this kit to help them meet the new federal requirements."
     The kit includes:

     * An Internet Safety Policy implementation guide;
     * An Internet Safety Policy presentation and companion script;
     * Templates for town meeting invitations;
     * Template for a press release announcing the meeting in community media;
     * Relevant articles and case studies;
     * Hand-outs for parents;
     * Cyber-Safe Zone decals and other materials.

     SurfControl's Town Meeting in a Box sets out the process of holding
 information hearings and is packed with all the advice and tools needed to
 hold such a meeting. Educators can download the material, photocopy what is
 needed and tailor the materials to local needs.
     The kit also contains 100 pass-along Cyber Patrol demonstration password
 cards that give access to a trial of Cyber Patrol 5.0 filtering software for
 the home, the most secure, customizable and full-featured version of the
 world's most widely used filtering tool.
     "We remain committed to providing schools with the best tool in the
 marketplace for helping ensure children's safety on the Internet," Getgood
 said. "And we stand ready to assist schools in every way possible as they
 apply for valuable federal funds and implement the new law."
     Cyber Patrol combines premier Internet filtering lists with versatile
 settings, to offer precise filtering to meet differing school needs. Versions
 are available for a wide variety of environments, including Microsoft Proxy
 Server, Novell Border Manager, stand-alone versions for MAC and PC and
