ATLANTA, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Information Systems ("SIS") announced today it will feature its interoperable perioperative IT solution during the upcoming 2013 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference and Exhibition. Through industry presentations and solution demonstrations, SIS will show how its perioperative IT solutions supports hospitals' safety, efficiency, and interoperability goals. Predictable Implementation Methodology for a Remarkable Experience
SIS' implementation methodology delivers an 80% complete model system based on the experience of hundreds of their clients. As a result, a predictable implementation experience helps align resources to a project plan that supports an in-budget implementation and shortens the implementation time to deliver a faster return on investment.

"SIS' ability to proactively manage expectations and simultaneously execute a successful implementation was very impressive," said Robert Sumter, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer at Regional Medical Center at Memphis. "We were able to implement our solution in 22 weeks and recognize over $1 million in previously un-captured charges over our projected budget in the first few months after our go-live."

Mobile Solutions Help Speed User Adoption
More and more clinicians are requesting mobile solutions in their OR. These tools simplify OR management by expanding the access to information. In the 2012 HIMSS Mobile Technology Survey, clinicians using mobile technology to collect data at the bedside rose to 45 percent, up from 30 percent in 2011.

SIS will showcase their "smart mobile" innovations at the show, including the recently-released SIS Surgery Dashboard. This tool gives a snapshot of the status of every OR all in one place and helps clinicians and managers predict how the day will play out so scheduling adjustments can be made to minimize overtime, efficiently manage resources, and help ensure that ORs are fully utilized.

Advanced Interoperability to Improve Efficiency, Communication
In January, SIS successfully completed the 2013 Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Connectathon. The company demonstrated interoperability for each of the IHE profiles that are critical in forming an effective information exchange between a perioperative system and other hospital systems.

SIS also recently released a new version of its perioperative management solution for organizations using Soarian® Clinicals from Siemens Healthcare. The enhanced technology delivers additional interoperability with Soarian Clinicals that enables users to seamlessly access information and document care without duplicating efforts.

Mike Mistretta, Vice President and CIO at MedCentral Health System said, "SIS and Siemens have delivered a level of interoperability that puts the right information into the hands of the right people at the right time. Maintaining patient and user context between applications is a significant win for our organization because it simplifies documentation workflow and helps ensure accuracy of the patient record."

At HIMSS, SIS will highlight its interoperable perioperative IT solution in the Intelligent Hospital™ Pavilion with over 50 healthcare IT vendors to showcase how a variety of integrated technologies can seamlessly work with other medical devices. This collaboration shows how hospitals can use technology to facilitate their goals of increased patient safety, improved clinical work flow and up-to-the-minute dissemination of information at the point of care.

"SIS is committed to providing innovative solutions from shaping interoperability standards to mobile offerings that support hospital's clinical, efficiency, and financial goals," said SIS CEO Ed Daihl. "We are also very proud to use our integration expertise to design fully-interoperable software that helps enable the flow of information and support high-quality care delivery."
