Syracuse University, ShoreGroup, Inc. Announce Strategic Development Partnership

Co-development to Focus on Further Development of

ShoreGroup's CaseSentry(TM) Network Management Application

Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Syracuse University and ShoreGroup, Inc.

NEW YORK, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- ShoreGroup, Inc. has been selected to
join the SAID (Sense, Analyze, Interpret & Decide) program, a technology
development program sponsored by The New York State Center for Advanced
Technology in Computer Applications & Software Engineering (CASE) at Syracuse
University, in order to enhance ShoreGroup's CaseSentry network management
application to create a next generation intelligent network security
 application.
ShoreGroup's CaseSentry, a fully integrated network management
application, was designed to simply and cost-effectively provide network
management functions such as network monitoring and mapping, trouble ticket
generation, device management, performance history and performance management.
CaseSentry collects, analyzes and organizes network data, then notifies IT
staff automatically of events needing their attention. Available as a
subscription service, CaseSentry provides an alternative to complicated
management tools and allows IT staff to focus on essential network issues.
"The complexity and limitations of existing management tools inspired us
to develop the CaseSentry management tool," said Robert Ditta, president and
COO of ShoreGroup. "We designed CaseSentry from the perspective of the
network engineer who needs to retain in-house control of the network, yet
eliminate the burden of configuring, monitoring, and maintaining the network
 management system.
"Our clients have told us that CaseSentry has already made a positive
impact on their network management," he added. "But there is a lot more we
can do with this application -- particularly in the area of developing
advanced security intelligence for intrusion detection, vulnerability
assessment and policy management. We are very excited that ShoreGroup can
work with the SAID program to evolve the next-generation application needed to
meet tomorrow's increasingly complex security challenges."
The SAID program is a strategic product development program at The CASE
Center that involves research collaboration between faculty and graduate
students of Syracuse University's L.C. Smith College of Engineering and
Computer Science and selected Central New York companies. The program focuses
on technologies that support situational awareness. The ShoreGroup
collaboration will be with faculty and students in Syracuse University's
 Center for Systems Assurance.
"We are very excited to join forces with ShoreGroup and its leading-edge
network management solutions," said Shiu-Kai Chin, director of The CASE
Center. "Security is an important and costly issue that is of great concern
to every business. We have the utmost confidence in ShoreGroup's vision,
integrity, and ability to execute. The relationship between SAID and
ShoreGroup has been evolving for some time, including ShoreGroup staff's
contributions to our Software Roundtable. ShoreGroup and CaseSentry fit in
perfectly with SAID's goals of developing technologies that enable quick and
accurate situation assessments coupled with automated decision making, command
 and control."
