Target Corporation Names Butzer EVP of Stores for Target; Diane Neal Becomes New Mervyn's President

    MINNEAPOLIS, April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Target Corporation (NYSE:   TGT) today
 named Bart Butzer Executive Vice President of Stores for its Target division.
 Diane Neal will succeed Butzer as president of the Hayward California-based
 Mervyn's division.

 leadership for our nearly 1000 Target stores today and our continued growth in
 the future.  Additionally, Diane brings a proven track record to her new

     Bart Butzer, 44, began his career at Target Corporation in 1983 and has
 held a number of positions within the stores and headquarters functions.
 Prior to becoming president of Mervyn's in 1997, Butzer was regional senior
 vice president of Target Stores with responsibility for approximately
 one-quarter of Target's stores and sales volume.

     Diane Neal, 44, began her career with Target Corporation in 1980 as a
 management trainee in merchandising at Dayton's department store.  During the

 planning and worldwide product sourcing throughout the Target organization.
 She has held positions at Marshall Field's, Mervyn's, AMC and Target.
