Target Tops Off its October 2001 Opening List With Six New Stores

    MINNEAPOLIS, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Target Stores is ready to bring
 outstanding style and value to shoppers in six additional communities on
 October 14, 2001.  Including store openings previously announced Target now
 plans to open 40 stores in 22 states in October -- or approximately
 5.3 million square feet of new retail space.  Eleven of the new stores are
 SuperTarget stores.
 
     The following Target stores also will open in October:
     -- Enfield, Conn.;
     -- Hackensack, N.J.;
     -- Huntsville, Ala. (SuperTarget);
     -- Mesa, Ariz.;
     -- Orlando, Fla. (SuperTarget), which was previously announced as a
        July 29, 2001 opening; and
     -- Worcester, Mass.
