CHERRY HILL, N.J. and PORTLAND, Maine, June 17 /PRNewswire/ -- The TD Charitable Foundation announced that it has increased the funding available through the Non-Profit Training Resource Fund to $300,000, and expanded the program to support eligible organizations based throughout Commerce Bank and TD Banknorth's combined footprint from Maine to Florida. The Non-Profit Training Resource Fund provides donations to support job training, education and growth opportunities for employees of non-profit organizations. The Foundation launched the program in 2007 with an initial $100,000 commitment, in response to a decrease in funding available to non-profits at the federal, state and private levels. "The TD Charitable Foundation recognizes that professional development is key to the effectiveness and vitality of any organization. However, non-profits are often faced with budget constraints, leaving them with few resources for staff education and training," said Elizabeth K. Warn, Executive Vice President of Community Development for TD Banknorth and President of the TD Charitable Foundation. "To help remedy this situation, the Non-Profit Training Resource Fund makes job training opportunities possible for non-profits and their employees." The Non-Profit Training Resource Fund will provide donations of up to $1,000 per calendar year to non-profits to cover tuition expenses for courses that will strengthen employees' job performances. To be eligible, an organization must have 501(c)(3) status, and its focus must be to support affordable housing for low- and moderate-income individuals; to promote small business development; or to provide financial literacy programs to low- and moderate-income youth, individuals or families. The organization must also be based and serve communities in Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont or Virginia, where either Commerce Bank or TD Banknorth has a presence. An online application and additional information about the Non-Profit Training Resource Fund is available at http://www.TDBanknorth.com and http://www.commerceonline.com/communityrelations.
