TEC-Networks Finalizes Acquisition of BuyMicro.com, Successful Computer Internet Sales Company

Apr 02, 2001, 01:00 ET from TEC-Networks

TORRANCE, Calif., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Communications 2000, Inc., doing
business as TEC-Networks, has finalized its acquisition of BuyMicro.com, a
company that markets and sells a full spectrum of custom-designed network
solutions, including computers and peripherals, over the Internet. The
majority shareholder of TEC-Networks is Nova Communications
 (OTC Bulletin Board: NCVM).
TEC-Networks CEO and President Ken Owen said the addition of BuyMicro.com
will double -- and possibly even triple -- current sales for TEC-Networks.
BuyMicro.com, a wholly owned subsidiary, currently has approximately
30,000 customers across the United States and sells more than 100,000 products
from noted manufacturers such as Apple, Cisco, Compaq, Hewlett Packard, Intel,
IBM, NEC, Nokia, Philips, Sony, SunMicrosystems, Toshiba and Zenith.
TEC-Networks, founded in 1995, sells and services business communications
switching systems from Nortel Networks in addition to voice-mail systems,
unified messaging, voice-over IP and Internet services, primarily in
California and Florida. The addition of BuyMicro.com gives the company access
to the entire United States via the Internet and also provides another
platform from which to sell telephone systems and services.
"Obviously, this is a superb acquisition based on the greatly increased
revenues and profits. But the benefits to TEC-Networks go much further," said
Owen. "We will be able to 'touch' twice as many customers, at half the cost,
with our combined marketing efforts. Both TEC-Networks and BuyMicro.com are
known for their sophisticated and successful direct marketing efforts. Our
efforts have been primarily print-oriented, while BuyMicro.com has achieved
tremendous success marketing over the Internet."
Jeff Goldfield, president of BuyMicro.com, based in Redondo Beach, Calif.,
said he is excited about joining TEC-Networks because it opens up many more
opportunities for growth as a result of the Nortel Networks national
dealership. "Ken and I have known each other for many years and have had
prior business relationships, dating back to 1993. We know we work well
together and share many of the same visions for expanding our businesses,"
 Goldfield explained.
Owen added that TEC-Networks customers will derive many of the benefits
already enjoyed by BuyMicro.com customers, such as excellent customer
financing relationships and next-day drop shipments from anywhere in the
 country.
According to Owen, "Jeff has developed an extensive, sophisticated
logistics software system that enables the company to expertly track orders
and ensure prompt deliveries. While many dot coms are struggling with
logistics, BuyMicro.com is a profitable company with low overhead that has
figured out how to successfully move product quickly -- nationally -- over the
 Internet."
