    MINNEAPOLIS, April 24 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Tennant Company (NYSE: TNC) and Johnson Wax Professional today announced
the formation of a joint venture company, NexGen Floor Care Solutions(TM),
which next month will introduce a revolutionary multi-tasking floor cleaning
machine and chemical system. This system is expected to significantly reduce
labor, eliminate expense and concerns associated with propane-powered
equipment and improve the quality and consistency of cleaning results.

This new machine is capable of performing three functions: sweeping,
scrubbing and polishing hard floors in one pass at a rate of up to 15,000
square feet per hour. The chemical system has been designed specifically for
optimum performance with the 3-in-1 machine. These jointly developed products
promise significant productivity gains and increased performance over existing
methods and practices used by large retail store chains and building service
contractors and in other commercial markets.
Traditional sweeping, scrubbing, and polishing of retail and commercial
hard floors use multiple pieces of equipment, operated outside normal business
hours due to noise, emissions and potential for wet floors. This new system
combines all operations in one machine and leaves a clean, dry, polished floor
behind. The low noise level, zero emissions and customer-friendly design
allow operation even during normal store hours.
In addition to the machine, the NexGen system includes proprietary
brushes, pads, floor cleaner, and floor finish designed specifically to
optimize the performance of the innovative system. The system will also
include full maintenance service and process support.
Johnson Wax Professional, a global marketer of hygiene and appearance
products, will supply the chemicals, pads and provide technical support.
Tennant will manufacture the machine and provide equipment maintenance,
 aftermarket parts and technical support.
"We are very excited to be joining forces with Johnson Wax Professional on
this project," said Janet M. Dolan, president and chief executive officer,
Tennant Company. "Our strengths in the industrial, commercial, healthcare and
education markets combined with Johnson's strengths in retail and food and
lodging complement one another well. We also share strong relationships with
building service contractors. This new cleaning system is revolutionary and
will dramatically reduce cleaning costs for customers. It truly represents a
 new way to clean floors."
NexGen will operate as a separate entity, with a separate dedicated sales
force for the system. Initially, NexGen will focus its sales on end-users in
North America. NexGen's distribution channels and plans for global expansion
will be developed over time, following its North American success.
