BOCA RATON, Fla., Aug. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Grigor Dimitrov, 24 year old professional tennis player currently ranked 16th in the world, along with Ivan Lendl, former world no. 1, hit the red clay stadium court at Boca Grove Golf & Tennis Club on Tuesday, July 21. The two were practicing with different tennis racquets weights and balances.
Dimitrov, the most successful Bulgarian tennis player, achieved his first top-10 ranking by the Association of Tennis Professionals in 2014 after his performance at Wimbledon. He won the Juniors Wimbledon and Juniors US Open in 2008 to catapult him to his professional status that same year. In 2014, Dimitrov reached the quarterfinals in the Australian Open and the semi-finals at Wimbledon. John McEnroe has been cited for saying that Dimitrov has the best backhand slice in the game.
Lendl has been labeled one of the greatest players of all time. He has a total of 8 Grand Slam titles and has won a total of 94 singles titles in his tennis career. Lendl held the record for a total of 270 weeks ranked as no. 1. He won the Australian Open twice, the French Open and US Open three times, the Masters Grand Prix five times, and the WCT Finals twice. In 2001 he was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame after being retired from the sport since 1994.
