TeraGlobal Communications and Motorola Announce Strategic Alliance

TeraGlobal and Motorola Integrated Information Systems Group Enter Into

Strategic Relationship to Pursue Public Sector Opportunities

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from TeraGlobal Communications Corporation

SAN DIEGO, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- TeraGlobal Communications Corporation
(Nasdaq: TGCC), a developer of advanced networking software for converged
communications, and Motorola's (NYSE: MOT) Integrated Information Systems
Group announced today a strategic alliance to jointly participate in two major
Department of Defense projects and to pursue other Government sector
 communication project opportunities.

     The Global Information Grid
The two companies will jointly participate in the Global Information Grid
(GIG) Voice, Video, Data Convergence Pilot project. Sponsored by the
Assistant Secretary of Defense and run by the Department of the Navy, the
demonstration project involves evaluating various convergence technologies,
and testing voice, video, and data convergence capability over a high-speed
backbone network. Initially, the Voice Video Data Convergence pilot will be
demonstrated at nine Naval facilities in the San Diego area. TeraGlobal was
selected to participate following an evaluation of technical white papers,
oral presentations and live demonstrations of the voice, video, and data
convergence technology. The evaluation was led by the U.S. Navy Space and
 Naval Warfare System Command (SPAWAR).

     The Navy/Marine Corps Intranet
The companies have agreed to pursue specific opportunities associated with
the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (N/MCI) project. The N/MCI provides for up to
$6.9 billion to be spent over the next five years, and includes provisions for
projects to develop integrated voice, video and data to improve secure
information technology capabilities. Motorola and TeraGlobal will jointly
seek subcontracting opportunities to provide specific communications
 components of the N/MCI project.

     Other Opportunities
The companies have also agreed to consider participating in other projects
that take advantage of their respective initiatives, including the
Motorola/Sun Microsystems Openwings Service Based Architecture. Openwings
provides for development of an architecture that incorporates the latest
commercial technologies and concepts for a service-oriented architecture where
components spontaneously publish and discover services, independent of
transport protocols and deployment environments. Openwings may provide an
opportunity for incorporation of TeraGlobal's advanced networking software to
deliver portions of the component architecture, and TeraGlobal's TeraMedia
software may provide additional services for configuration collaboration.

In each of these opportunities, Motorola will provide project management,
systems engineering and integration, overall program coordination, and certain
communications products. TeraGlobal will provide the software technology for
real-time, two-way, integrated voice video and data communication and
 collaboration.
"We believe that TeraGlobal's advanced networking software provides great
opportunity for tomorrow's communication networks in the government sector,"
said Denny Wisely, Motorola Navy/Marine Corps Account Manager. "We want to
take advantage of that technology and to realize the benefit of true next
 generation network capabilities."
"Partnering with an established and sophisticated company like Motorola is
a great platform for us to exploit opportunities and markets that are not
accessible to a young company like TeraGlobal," said Robert E. Randall, CEO of
TeraGlobal Communications. "Motorola's proven capabilities in all aspects of
communications products, systems, and integration make them an ideal partner
for our continued development and market penetration."
