Joel Gallen Returns to Executive Produce; Rick Austin is Set to Produce

    SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2001 MTV MOVIE AWARDS
 will be held Saturday, June 2 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will
 premiere on MTV Thursday, June 7 at 9:00PM (ET/PT).   The tenth annual
 star-studded event takes an irreverent look at the movie industry and features
 unusual categories such as Best On Screen Team, Best Kiss and Best Villain,
 along with musical performers and celebrity presenters.
     Tenth Planet Productions will once again join MTV to produce the 2001 MTV
 MOVIE AWARDS.  Joel Gallen will step up this year to Executive Producer and he
 has tapped Rick Austin, who has worked with Gallen as co-producer on four of
 the past shows, to produce this year's event.  Salli Frattini will also serve
 as co-executive producer with Gallen for MTV.
     The nominees for the 2001 MTV MOVIE AWARDS are chosen through a national
 poll of MTV and MTV2 viewers.  The winners will be determined by MTV and MTV2
 viewers, who can cast their votes from 4/24 through 5/10 via telephone at
 900-288-4MTV/75 cents per call (you must be 18 years or older to call); and
 via online from 4/24 through 5/23 by  visiting mtv.excite.com.
     The 2000 MTV MOVIE AWARDS were hosted by Golden Globe-award winning
 actress Sarah Jessica Parker.  Show-stopping performances were given by
 *NSYNC, Metallica and D'Angelo; presenters included George Clooney, Halle
 Berry, Denise Richards and Nicolas Cage.  Last year's recipients include: Best
 Male Performance, Keanu Reeves for "The Matrix"; Best Female Performance,
 Sarah Michelle Gellar for "Cruel Intentions"; Mike Myers, for Best Villain in
 "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" and Best Musical Performance by Matt
 Stone and Trey Parker for "South Park."
