The Children & Youth Initiative to Hold April 26 Planning Meeting for New Health and Human Service Center in Downtown Detroit

    DETROIT, April 20 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- The Children &
 Youth Initiative of Detroit/Wayne County Inc. invites the public to
 participate in a planning meeting for the new Coordinated Services Center to
 be located in the central sub zone of the Empowerment Zone.  The meeting will
 be held Thursday, April 26, at the Oakland Avenue Missionary Baptist Church,
 315 Harper Avenue.  Dinner will be served from 5-5:45 p.m. and the meeting
 begins at 6 p.m.
     During the meeting, community stakeholders will brainstorm ideas and
 develop a plan for implementation of a neighborhood-based center that
 addresses the health and human service needs of residents in the area.  The
 Children & Youth Initiative received $1 million in Empowerment Zone Title XX
 funds to develop the center, which will offer individualized services to
 children and families in the Central/Downtown Detroit Area.  They have
 partnered with the Michigan Family Independence Agency, Wayne County Public
 Health, Detroit Wayne County Community Mental Health and other local service
 providers to open the new Coordinated Services Center.
     Childcare and transportation needs will be provided for the meeting.  For
