DETROIT, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Intier Automotive was introduced today to
the automotive OEM community by its President and CEO, Don Walker.
Intier Automotive debuts as a single-source, comprehensive developer,
manufacturer, integrator, and just-in-time assembler and sequencer of vehicle
interior components and systems as well as complete door, closure and cockpit
modules. The name Intier is derived from a combination of sources: automotive
interiors, plus the Tier One competence to automotive manufacturers, as well
as innovation and ingenuity. Intier will be recognized as a symbol of
craftsmanship and innovation, fostered by Magna's unique heritage.
Organized from three former Magna operating groups: Atoma Closure Systems,
Magna Interior Systems and Magna Seating Systems, Intier Automotive is a world
leader in the integration of complete interior systems, including cockpits,
instrument panels, modular door systems and panels, center consoles,
headliners and overhead systems, complete seat systems and specialty seat
 mechanisms, and closure systems.
Intier Automotive will be headed by Don Walker, most recently President
and CEO of Magna International. Having led Magna for the past 10 years during
its greatest period of overall growth and profitability, Mr. Walker is now
turning his attention to the challenges of growing Intier Automotive and
addressing its day-to-day operations in a dynamic industry.
"Intier Automotive has the vision, depth of experience, agility, global
resources and capability to meet the ever-changing requirements of both our
OEM customers and the ultimate consumer. Because we have a practical
understanding of the entire vehicle from concept to complete assembly, we
believe we have unique capabilities in the development of complete interiors.
We intend to lead the evolution of interior sourcing while delivering quality
and value to our OEM customers," said Walker.
Intier Automotive currently operates more than 60 manufacturing facilities
and 13 Engineering, Research & Development Centers in 13 countries. New
Engineering and Development facilities are also being established in Novi,
Michigan, and near Frankfurt, Germany, in order to provide further benefits
and enhanced synergies to customers. The Company also has full-vehicle
testing and simulation capabilities through ACTS (Advanced Car Technology
Systems), an Intier Automotive - Magna Steyr joint venture located in Sailauf,
Germany, near Frankfurt. This established worldwide network of design and
manufacturing facilities is focused on delivering cost-effective, innovative
interior program solutions to our OEM customers.
Intier Automotive's world-class design studios, test & simulation
facilities and manufacturing plants are staffed by more than 20,000 employees
in 13 countries. Of such employees, more than two thousand members of the
Intier Automotive team are technicians, engineers and stylists involved in
innovation and leading edge product development.
Intier Automotive will operate consistent with the entrepreneurial
principles that are the hallmark of Magna's success, including
decentralization, which increases flexibility, customer responsiveness and
productivity. In addition, management and employee profit-based compensation
programs will assist in attracting, retaining and motivating skilled
 management and employees.
