Games to Arrive Fall 2002

Apr 04, 2001, 01:00 ET from Infogrames, Inc.

NEW YORK, April 4 /PRNewswire Interactive Release/ -- Ethan Hunt and the
IMF Team have accepted a new mission. Infogrames, Inc., (Nasdaq: IFGM) a
global publisher of interactive entertainment software, today announced that
it has secured the license to one of last year's top-grossing films, Mission:
Impossible-2 ("M:I-2(TM)"), from Viacom Consumer Products to develop video
games based on the movie's characters and story.
Paramount Pictures' top grossing movie of 2000, with a worldwide box
office gross topping $545 million, Mission: Impossible-2, was one of the
year's most successful films. Infogrames plans to release the first title in
 fall 2002 on both Sony's PlayStation(R) 2 and Microsoft(R)'s Xbox.
"Infogrames is very pleased to accept the challenge of creating a video
game to match the excitement, tension and action of Mission: Impossible-2,"
said Rob Watson, senior vice president of worldwide licensing for Infogrames.
"This is an example of one of the things we do best -- licensing powerhouse
entertainment properties and creating interactive magic. Along with other
recently signed high-profile properties, "M:I-2" will be part of a series of
the most exciting Infogrames games players have ever seen."
This second installment in the tremendously popular Mission:Impossible
franchise follows on the heels of the successful first series of games --
released by Infogrames for Nintendo(R) 64, Nintendo(R) Game Boy(R) and Sony
PlayStation(R) ? which has sold nearly one million units in the U.S.
"Infogrames has a proven record of taking well-known licenses and creating
cutting-edge, mass market games on both established and next generation
platforms," stated Pam Newton, vice president of Viacom Consumer Products.
"Because of this, VCP is confident the Mission:Impossible-2 game will match
the movie's heart pounding action and international intrigue that has created
a league of such devoted fans."
Tom Cruise and John Woo, two of the most compelling figures in the world
of film, teamed up for "M:I-2", a romantic action thriller that plunged
special agent Ethan Hunt into an international crisis of terrifying magnitude.
Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner are the producers of the film, which was written
by Robert Towne based on the television series created by Bruce Geller. A
Cruise/Wagner Production, "M:I-2" is executive produced by Terence Chang and
Paul Hitchcock and Michael Doven serves as associate producer.
