The MWW Group Adds Chicago and Golden Gate Sport & Social Clubs to Its Client Roster

MWW Provides Strategic Consultation and

Media Relations to Social Clubs for Young Professionals

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from MWW Group

    CHICAGO, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- The MWW Group (http://www.mwwpr.com),
one of the nation's top 20 public relations firms, today announced it has been
retained by a group of investors who have recently acquired the Chicago and
Golden Gate Sport & Social Clubs. MWW is managing the corporate acquisition
announcement and helping re-launch the organization and rejuvenate the brand.
The Chicago and Golden Gate Sport & Social Club were affiliates of the
Sport and Social Clubs of the U.S., which abruptly suspended operations in
January due to financial troubles of the parent company, StreetZebra.com. A
group of members and employees of the clubs, led by Chicago lifestyle
marketers Marc Bortz and Jason Erkes, acquired the Chicago and San Francisco
affiliates in late February. The company's new leadership is re-launching
operations this spring and expanding services and programs. The clubs provide
organized adult sports leagues including beach volleyball, softball,
basketball and hockey, as well as social events. Members are mostly young,
active professionals who participate as a way to meet new people, network,
stay in shape and participate in organized sports.
"The Chicago and Golden Gate Sport and Social Clubs are rites of passage
for many young adults in Chicago and San Francisco. This is a unique
situation, where employees and members of the defunct clubs missed these
services and acquired the company," said Michael W. Kempner, president and CEO
 of The MWW Group.
"The MWW Group is working with the new leadership to re-launch the clubs,
provide strategic consultation to repair relationships with members after the
sudden suspension of operations and generate renewed interest," said Kempner.
"We formed an alliance with The MWW Group to re-launch this company and
re-gain our market share," said Erkes, the new president of the Chicago and
Golden Gate Sport & Social Clubs. "The MWW Group understands the dynamics of
corporate acquisitions and brand resurrection. Their network of media contacts
and expertise in consumer outreach is vital to helping us make our sport and
 social clubs bigger and better."
