The Price of Kings: Shimon Peres - New Documentary Reveals the Inner Workings of One of the World's Longest Serving Statesmen
LONDON, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
"I don't sleep at night … what we call experience, the younger generation calls a chain of mistakes."
As Israeli President Shimon Peres embarks on his U.S. tour, Spirit Level Film announces the 16th April release of The Price of Kings: Shimon Peres. Narrated by actor Helena Bonham Carter, CBE, it's the second film from the documentary series on leadership, revealing the sacrifices President Peres made across seven decades at the heart of the Middle East conflict.
The groundbreaking documentary sees the last of the founders of Israel, architect of their nuclear programme, twice Prime Minister and current President disclosing the challenges of establishing peace, maintaining family life under a constant threat of assassination, facing untenable choices and building a nation. Extensive interviews include unprecedented access to his family, closest allies and adversaries, ranging from Peres' granddaughter, fifth President of Israel, Yitzhak Navon and former Palestinian Prime Minister, Ahmed Qurei.
"We discovered a heavily conflicted man, almost the embodiment of the state he was instrumental in building. Often we think we know our leaders from what we see in the media; but we wanted the series to challenge our understanding of the sacrifices and difficulties leaders face behind the scenes," said filmmakers Joanna Natasegara and Richard Symons.
The Price of Kings is a series of twelve films, revealing the sacrifices made and the ultimate price paid, both personally and politically, by some of the most influential, controversial and powerful leaders of our time.
