The Regence Group Selects Onyx Software to Manage Relationships With Customers, Employers and Brokers

Regional Health Care Provider Will Standardize on Onyx Platform to Enhance

Customer, Provider and Broker Relationships, Furthering Its Leadership in a

Competitive Industry

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from Onyx Software Corp.

BELLVUE, Wash., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Onyx Software Corp.
(Nasdaq: ONXS), today announced that one of the largest affiliations of Blue
Cross and Blue Shield plans in the Western United States -- The Regence Group
-- has selected Onyx's customer relationship management software to manage,
analyze and share information among its employees, customers, employers,
 providers and brokers.
The Regence Group will implement the Onyx suite of products for
1,000 users throughout its entire enterprise across its multi-state network,
including Onyx Employee Portal, Onyx Customer Portal and Onyx Partner Portal.
The product suite is designed for the Internet, accessible from anywhere with
a browser, and gives the different audiences a customized view into Onyx's
powerful application server and database that manages, automates and updates
critical shared information and business processes.
"We currently capture a great deal of sales data that has not been used as
efficiently or effectively as possible," said Wayne Haddad, chief information
officer of The Regence Group. "We feel the tools Onyx gives us to interact
with customers, business partners and employers will enhance our competitive
position, especially in the group business. Leveraging information to improve
decision making is a great competitive advantage.
"The Regence Group knows the Internet has accelerated customers'
expectations of service and the health care industry is being forced to
compete for both employee and company mind share and dollars," said Eben
Frankenberg, senior vice president of Onyx Software. "The company is among a
handful of pioneers in its industry to embrace technology as a way to create
what we call a relationship network, a group of people and organizations that
need to work together to better serve each individual customer to build the
strongest possible relationships. We anticipate our portals will be deployed
more and more by large health care organizations like The Regence Group with
thousands of users both inside and outside the company, resulting in increased
customer satisfaction, revenue and business efficiency."
According to Haddad, The Regence Group's information needs are complex,
with more than 5,000 brokers, annual premiums collections in excess of
$5.4 billion, more than 6,600 employees and a network of 23,000 providers to
support. Its affiliate health plans have nearly three million members in a
 four-state region.
"Our customers are consumers, brokers and employers," Haddad said.
"Historically we maintained our information in a variety of different systems,
formats and locations. Consequently, aggregating information and data quality
has been a challenge. Onyx brings an enterprise-wide solution for managing
the information used throughout our sales cycle.
"As our industry changes, we believe Onyx will enhance the relationship
between our company and our business partners well into the future --
especially as employers look for alternate methods of providing and financing
health insurance coverage, such as defined-contribution benefit plans. We
anticipate we'll be more responsive to our customers and more competitive
because we will be able to personalize communication with our customers,
 brokers and employers."
