CLEARFIELD, Utah, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- With Labor Day weekend around the corner, the long, lazy summer days are coming to an end. This year, celebrate the end of the season with a block party. Fire up the grill, pull out the yard games and invite the neighbors over for one last hurrah. Check out these tips to help you say goodbye to summer in style.

Get Your Tongs Out - For the classic Labor Day party, nothing beats firing up the grill. Hamburgers, hot dogs, vegetable kebabs and corn-on-the-cob are favorite summer dishes, and they're easy to make on the barbecue, so you can chat with guests, rather than being stuck in the kitchen. Make sure to set up your food on a buffet so friends and family can easily go for second helpings.

Bring On the Tunes - Compile a playlist of all your beachside favorites to share with your guests, run an extension cord from the house into the backyard and plug in your speakers. Even if you aren't by the ocean, you'll be setting the ambiance for a carefree, sunny day.

Bug Off - Prepare for the steamy Labor Day weather with plenty of bug repellant, sunscreen and water. Make sure to keep them well within reach-in a bucket by the back door or a basket near the pool.

Have a Ball - Keep the kids and neighbors entertained with a bit of friendly competition. The new Tetherball System from Lifetime Products is the perfect way to take this year's BBQ bash up a notch -- neighbor against neighbor, mom versus dad, etc. This tetherball set doesn't require a cement base, so when the party is over, it easily rolls to the back corner of the yard until the next time you want to play.

Shine on - If you follow all these tips for a fun get-together, some of your guests may not want the bash (or the summer) to end! Make sure you're prepared for your block party to last into the night -- Tiki torches or twinkle lights will keep your party well lit and festive even after the sun goes down.
