TMBR/Sharp Drilling Names New President, Appoints Three New Members to Board Of Directors

 TMBR/Sharp Drilling, Inc. (Nasdaq: TBDI) announced today that Jeffrey D.
 Phillips, 40, former Vice President of Production, has been named President of
 the Company.  Thomas C. Brown, Chairman of the Board, assumed the additional
 duties of President in March 2000 while President Joe G. Roper was undergoing
 treatment for cancer.  Mr. Roper died on January 26, 2001.
     Appointed to the Board of Directors were Raymond E. Batchelor, Jr.,
 Michael M. Cone and James B. Taylor.
     Mr. Batchelor, 67, has been President of BHC Pipe & Equipment Co. since
 1987 and previously served for 30 years with Bovaird Supply Co.  Mr. Batchelor
 holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tulsa.
     Mr. Cone, 63, was a co-founder in 1985 and is majority owner and Chairman
 of Tri-C Resources, Inc., an independent oil and gas exploration company.  He
 previously was President and Chairman of Cliffs Drilling Co. until his
 retirement in 1991.  Mr. Cone holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas
 A&M University.
     Mr. Taylor, age 62, served for 28 years with Occidental Oil and Gas Corp.
 in various worldwide exploration and operations capacities, most recently as
 Executive Vice President.  In 1998 Mr. Taylor co-founded Solana Petroleum
 Corp., a Canadian public company with activities in South America and the
 United States and was Chairman until December 2000.  He is currently a
 Director of Willbros Group, Inc. (NYSE).
     Mr. Phillips, TMBR/Sharp's new President, formerly was Division Manager of
 Gulf Coast and offshore operations in Lafayette, Louisiana, for Adobe
 Resources Corporation.  Mr. Phillips was Manager of Operations for Staley Gas
 Company in Midland, Texas, before joining TMBR/Sharp in 1995 as Engineering
 Manager.  He became Vice President of Production in 1997.  Mr. Phillips holds
 a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University.
     Lonnie Arnold, 45, is now the Company's Manager of Production.  He joined
 TMBR/Sharp in 2000 after 21 years with Adobe Resources and Santa Fe Resources.
 He holds a B.S. in earth science from the University of Texas-Permian Basin.
     TMBR/Sharp Drilling, Inc. is engaged in the contract drilling of oil and
 gas wells in the Permian Basin of west Texas and eastern New Mexico and the
 exploration for, development and production of oil and natural gas in these
