AUSTIN, Texas, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TrackingPoint™, creator of the world's first Precision Guided Firearm (PGF) system, today announced the availability of Precision Hunter Lite, a free app for iOS devices that lets users experience TrackingPoint's revolutionary new precision shooting technology.
TrackingPoint's PGF forever changed the world of marksmanship by integrating jet fighter lock-and-launch technology into a firearm, allowing anyone to track and hit moving targets at extreme ranges. Precision Hunter Lite is a realistic first-person hunting simulator that replicates the PGF experience. Users can quickly master TrackingPoint's Tag Track Xact (TTX) shot sequence via the Heads Up Display (HUD) to make accurate, ethical shots at long range. Precision Hunter Lite allows interested shooters to better understand how the PGF works and PGF owners to practice their hunting skills in a virtual environment on properly scaled targets at extreme distances.
"TrackingPoint is a company of firsts," said Bret Boyd, Vice President at TrackingPoint. "We are the first company to develop a PGF. We are the first company to offer apps for your smart device that interface directly with your shooting system. We are now the first company to create an interactive gaming experience that simulates a real-life shooting system. Precision Hunter Lite is an immersive, fun and exciting experience for anyone wishing to try the future of high-tech hunting and shooting for themselves."
Virtual Hunting Environments
Precision Hunter Lite, developed in partnership with Austin-based mobile app developer Chaotic Moon, lets users choose their quarry, then enter a virtual world via the HUD to practice their extreme distance hunting skills. The app makes use of device movement—as the user moves his iPad or iPhone, the onscreen landscape moves as well.
Precision Hunter Lite includes instruction on game anatomy and location of vital organs that will result in clean, ethical shots. Once in the app's hunting mode, success is only achieved with precise, ethical shot placement on game. On-screen information displays post-hunt statistics, harvest ratio, and vital zone accuracy in order to help users improve their precision on a variety of game.
How A PGF Works -Tag-Track-Xact TTX™ Technology
Precision Hunter Lite is an accurate representation of TrackingPoint's exclusive Tag Track Xact (TTX) technology. The shooter tags his target by pressing the "Tag Button" with his left thumb, automatically setting up the shot and persistently tracking the target, even if it is moving, with a red dot. Over 20 ballistic variables including range, wind, target velocity, shot angle, rifle cant, temperature, barometric pressure, and the Coriolis effect are instantly calculated to create a perfect firing solution, represented by a blue "X". Once tagged, the shooter simply realigns the blue "X" reticle with the tag, presses and holds the onscreen "trigger" with their right thumb to turn the "X" red and arm the system, and aligns the center of the red "X" with the red dot to fire the system at the target.
"In a real-world Precision Guided Firearm system, the Guided Trigger is integrally connected to the Networked Tracking Scope and the automatic ballistic calculator," said Boyd. "The Guided Trigger actually inflates the trigger pull weight, preventing the system from firing until it is optimally aligned to hit the target. The PGF takes minutes to master and allows anyone to accurately engage targets out to 1,200 yards."
Full Version in Late 2013
Precision Hunter Lite, now available through the Apple App Store, is a free app compatible with all Apple iOS devices. Later in 2013, the company will begin selling a full version with many enhanced features. Versions of the app for Android devices are also anticipated in 2013.
TrackingPoint will demonstrate both the PGF system and Precision Hunter Lite at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Gaming Expo Trade Show, March 8-10, in the Palmer Events Center in Austin, TX.
