Triant wins order from leading Japanese semiconductor company

Year to date revenue, deferred revenue and backlog tops $3 million

Apr 04, 2001, 01:00 ET from Triant Technologies Inc.

    NANAIMO, BC, April 4 /PRNewswire/ - Triant Technologies Inc. (CDNX:TNT;
OTCBB:TNTTF) today announced that it has won a $250,000 order from one of
Japan's leading semiconductor manufacturers. This order is for the deployment
of ModelWare(R)/RT, Triant's market-leading equipment health monitoring and
advanced fault detection solution. With this order, Triant's year to date
revenue, deferred revenue and backlog has increased to over $3 million.
Paul O'Sullivan, president and chief executive officer, stated: "This is
a breakthrough order for Triant in the Japanese market, which represents
around 30% of the world-wide sales of semiconductors. The Japanese
semiconductor market is typically conservative with lengthy sales cycles and
this order was the result of a successful evaluation of ModelWare/RT by the
customer and a highly focused sales effort by Triant's exclusive Japanese
 distributor, Innotech Corporation.
"ModelWare/RT is playing a key role in helping our customers lower their
manufacturing costs and in increasing equipment throughput. This Japanese
order reflects our strategy to leverage our global distribution channels to
win new customers and supports our goal of dominating the advanced process
control (APC) segment of the semiconductor industry with the market-leading
equipment health monitoring and advanced fault detection solution."

Triant Technologies Inc. develops, markets, and supports equipment health
monitoring, advanced fault detection and sophisticated data analysis
technology. Triant provides innovative software solutions that help its
customers improve the productivity of their manufacturing equipment and is
focused on the application of its technology primarily to the semiconductor
industry (and secondarily to other industries). Triant's core technology is
UPM (Universal Process Modeling), a proprietary advanced mathematical
algorithm that can be used to model the behavior of any correlated system or
process. To address the emerging market opportunity in the semiconductor
industry, Triant has developed ModelWare(R)/RT, an equipment health monitoring
and advanced fault detection software solution, based on its core UPM
technology. More information about Triant is available via the Internet at
