NAPA, Calif., April 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Trinity Oaks Wines has helped plant 17 million trees globally with its program One Bottle One Tree® in less than 10 years. The program funds the planting of one tree for every bottle of Trinity Oaks wine sold through its partnership with the non-profit organization Trees for the Future. Environmental sustainability is a high priority for the brand and is demonstrated through the One Bottle One Tree® program along with eco-friendly packaging and sustainable farming practices in the vineyards.
"As a company, we're proud that our One Bottle One Tree® program not only helps the environment by contributing to reforestation efforts, but also helps make a difference in the lives of people in need," said Trinchero Family Estates Marketing Director Brie Baltzell. "Earth Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the powerful social and environmental impact we can have when we choose brands that are committed to giving back."
Trinity Oaks' commitment to the environment is evidenced in the brand's packaging as well. Wine labels are made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper and all the bottles are produced with a special lightweight glass. The capsules that are featured on each bottle are made from EarthFirst® PLA (Polyactic Acid) film which is made from plant-based materials and are certified compostable. The recyclable Nomacorc corks in each bottle produce a smaller carbon footprint than standard wine corks.
"As a family-owned farming business, I am impressed with their adherence to sustainable principles and I've seen with my own eyes how Trinity Oaks employs integrated pest management in their vineyards, uses solar panels on their buildings and is committed to using recycled materials in their product," said Trees for the Future CEO and Executive Director John Leary.
The mission of One Bottle One Tree® is to go beyond providing sustainable environments and provide sustainable futures for struggling farmers internationally. With the help of One Bottle One Tree® these farmers can significantly increase their income by creating forest gardens which are low maintenance, sustainable plant-based food production systems. The trees planted for the forest gardens provide crops for the farmers to sell as well as food for their families. By owning a forest garden, farmers are given the opportunity to empower themselves and future generations.
"We have planted over 130 million trees and Trinity Oaks has been our biggest business partner in our efforts," Leary continued. "Over the last six years, Trinity Oaks' support has been the main driver to our growth - not only through the direct financial support received from One Bottle One Tree®, but also as a vanguard that others businesses want to emulate in their commitment to environmental sustainability."
Consumers can take part in the One Bottle One Tree® program by enjoying one of the five wine varietals in the Trinity Oaks portfolio: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Trinity Oaks wines are available in restaurants, grocery and wine stores nationwide and retail for $8.99.
