Turbo Squid to Support Kaydara FBX File Format

Top 3D Data Exchange Service Provides Key Access to 3D Format

Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from Kaydara, Inc.

MONTREAL, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaydara Inc. and Turbo Squid Inc. today
announced that Turbo Squid, the online 3D content vendor, will support the
Kaydara FBX file format. Turbo Squid will support content sale and exchange in
FBX format, simplifying the pipeline for digital content creation using
Kaydara FiLMBOX(R). Designed to provide an authoring hub between major 3D
packages, FBX provides a centralized working file format for vendors wishing
to acquire, author, and retarget 3D data and animation.
"Turbo Squid provides a unique service for content interchange, which will
be simplified by Kaydara's FBX format," said Dan Kraus, director of business
development (entertainment) for Kaydara." Turbo Squid's support for FBX will
open up new doors for enabling content interchange between users, and help
build the authoring pipeline for faster, more interactive 3D content
 development."
The FBX format supports data structures from Alias Maya, NewTek Lightwave,
Discreet 3D Studio Max, and Softimage|3D. When using FBX files within FiLMBOX,
users gain additional character-animation capabilities, such as character
mapping. FBX also provides FiLMBOX users with the ability to re-purpose
content for film, TV, games and the Web. This means they can produce more
content in less time, reducing production costs while improving the quality of
 their animation.
"FBX provides a solid format for content interchange," said Andrew Wisdom,
director of business development for Turbo Squid. "Supporting this format will
allow our clients to quickly and easily transfer their data between different
packages, as well as support the Kaydara FiLMBOX product line."
