TREVOSE and PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- TVGateway LLC and
Comcast Cable Communications Inc., a division of
Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSK, CMCSA) today said that TVGateway's
Interactive Program Guide (IPG) has been deployed to select Comcast cable
systems now providing digital video services. Comcast, the nation's third
largest cable operator, plans to roll-out the TV Gateway IPG to 250,000
households. The digital cable guide service has been deployed to Comcast's
systems in Lower Merion and Willow Grove, PA as well as in Mobile, AL.
TVGateway, a joint venture comprised of Comcast, WorldGate Communications
Inc. (Nasdaq: WGAT), Adelphia Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: ADLAC),
Charter Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHTR), and Cox Communications, Inc.
(NYSE: COX), was originally announced in July 2000. Each of these four cable
operators, serving a total of over 26 million U.S. cable households, has
agreed to deploy the TVGateway IPG and license WorldGate's patented Channel
HyperLinking(SM) and Ultra-Thin Client(SM) technologies. The IPG will also be
licensed to other operators outside of the joint venture.
"The Interactive Program Guide created by TVGateway is one more digital
offering that can enhance the cable television viewing experience for our
customers," stated Steve Burke, president of Comcast Cable. "It is important
to have flexibility and variety in the interactive offerings that are
available to customers and we feel that TVGateway will add to Comcast's
 already comprehensive digital cable offerings."
"These deployments from TVGateway's joint-venture partners represent a
recognition of the need for choices when it comes to an IPG. The benefits an
MSO can gain from the control and flexibility offered by TVGateway speak for
themselves," said Hal Krisbergh, Chairman of TVGateway and President and CEO
