Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from TVN Entertainment Corporation

BURBANK, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- TVN Entertainment Corporation
has acquired BET's Action Pay-Per-View channel from Avalon Pictures Inc.,
announced Ian Aaron, TVN President & CEO. Now operating under the name
"Action Pay-Per-View," the channel will be programmed, distributed and
marketed by TVN as part of its ongoing initiative to provide creative,
targeted near-video-on-demand (NVOD) pay-per-view programming designed to
complement new-release movie offerings and to develop under-served markets.
Bob Johnson, Chairman, BET Holdings, Inc., will retain an interest in
Action Pay-Per-View, which will provide uninterrupted service to its current
cable affiliates and retain its urban-oriented programming. Johnson said,
"TVN is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the successful brand we've
already built, and to take Action Pay-Per-View to the next level. We look
forward to working together to maximize the potential of the channel, and to
continue to provide tailored PPV programming to urban audiences."
"TVN will maintain the urban-oriented line-up that Action Pay-Per-View
currently provides and work aggressively with its affiliates to identify and
implement revenue generating programming enhancements, including concerts,
original programming and packages of studio product targeted at urban
audiences, beginning in the July time frame," stated Michael Klein, TVN's
recently appointed Senior VP of Programming and Distribution.
In addition to its new-release movie slate, TVN's 37-channel digital NVOD
programming service delivers special events, concerts, music and sports. The
company plans to expand its NVOD selection to address other under-served
markets, including Spanish-speaking viewers, children and other targeted
 audiences.
Jim Riley, Senior VP of TVN Affiliate Sales and Marketing added, "TVN has
made the transition seamless for current affiliates by continuing to
distribute the service through a new carriage agreement with HITS and through
its existing G11 feed for the next 60 days. TVN will provide distribution on
its G10 feed that also offers a suite of programming that is complementary to
new release product and includes packaged VOD content. Our sales team will be
working directly with current affiliates to continue their HITS delivery or
convert them to our G10 feeds over the next 60 days."
