NEW YORK, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ --Today, at the Web 2.0 Expo, Universal Mind (http://universalmind.com), creator of custom, rich Internet applications for the Web, desktop, kiosks, and mobile devices, announced the opening of a new user experience design office in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Universal Mind is a collection of industry-leading technologists and user experience designers that believe effective technology solutions are not complete without complementary, engaging user experiences that marry form and function. Led by Erik Loehfelm, Universal Mind's Director of User Experience Design, the new location is the fourth Universal Mind office, and takes advantage of the strong community of innovative designers in the area.

"At Universal Mind, we excel at fusing user experience design, advanced technology and industry insight with deep customer engagement to create highly useable applications that drive return on investment (ROI), competitive differentiation and customer loyalty," said Brett Cortese, president of Universal Mind. "By tapping into the growing wealth of design innovators in the Grand Rapids community, our team continues to build upon our expertise in creating applications that are not only visually appealing but deliver great business results."

Erik Loehfelm, Director of User Experience Design, boasts a 16-year record of design work across many industries including: financial services, telecom, entertainment and manufacturing. He began his career as an award-winning New York editorial designer, studio owner, and creative director at companies such as Primedia and NexusGroup. Erik uses his diverse background and Universal Mind's "4D Process" (Discovery, Design, Develop, Deploy) to bring balance to creative leadership by translating concepts into dynamic solutions.

"I'm honored to be leading Universal Mind's office in Grand Rapids, dedicated to infusing our client's custom Web applications with rich user-centered design, and creatively solving business challenges of all shapes and sizes," said Loehfelm. "Having solid technology is only half the equation when it comes to web applications. Each must be coupled with a simple, elegant, user interface to engage and empower users in their tasks. The landscape is littered with user experience failures and we're driving to change that. Quality experiences equate to dollars earned and saved."

Universal Mind is exhibiting at the Web 2.0 Expo this week in New York, and can be found at booth #1029.
