NORFOLK, Va., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- ValueOptions(R) is pleased to announce that its customer UPS has been awarded the Employee Assistance Society of North America's (EASNA) 2009 U.S. Corporate Award for its national program, "Solutions --- Your EAP and Work/Life Benefit." UPS was recognized on May 8, 2009, during the annual EASNA Institute in Denver, Colo.

Each year, EASNA acknowledges one American and one Canadian company that demonstrate excellence in use of employee assistance program (EAP) offerings and service delivery. An independent panel of judges reviews submissions and evaluates them on a series of criteria that underscores the importance of integrating EAP services to ensure the health and well-being of the company's workforce.

UPS launched the highly visible and integrated Solutions program, provided by ValueOptions(R), to more than 340,000 U.S.-based employees and their dependents in April 2006.

"Through a strong, long-term relationship with ValueOptions(R), we have met our initial goals for this program and are continuously modifying the program to make it ever more successful in helping our employees combat the daily stressors that prohibit them from having productive lives and careers," says Dee H. Fennell, UPS Corporate Healthcare. "Our Solutions program could very well be our most important employee benefit during these tough economic times: Solutions offers hope, whether through emotional or financial counseling, work/life balance or support for our management team."

EAPs have been widely adopted across North America as a resource to support the human capital needs of a workforce. However, in the last several years, the scope of services has expanded to focus on the health and wellness of the total employer population.

"UPS was forward-thinking in the design of its Solutions program, which delivers a variety of health and productivity services to improve organizational performance, as well as assist individual employees and dependents," says Rich Paul, vice president of health and performance solutions at ValueOptions(R). "EASNA recognized that the visibility of this program among the UPS workforce and its management, as evident in program utilization and training attendance, was unparalleled."
