USOL, Inc. Acquires Cable TV Passings From Sprint Corporation; Acquisition Nearly Doubles Size of Company's Houston Operations

Apr 16, 2001, 01:00 ET from USOL Holdings, Inc.

    AUSTIN, Texas, April 16 /PRNewswire/ --
USOL Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: USOL, USOLW), a technology solutions provider for
the residential real estate industry, today announced it has acquired selected
assets of People's Choice TV of Houston, Inc., a Delaware corporation and an
indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Sprint Corporation. The acquisition
includes 5,145 cable passings at 20 apartment communities in the Houston area.
The passings were formerly managed by Home Theater and Sprint. USOL plans to
upgrade the service delivery platform at several properties to a digital
signal, and will add more than 30 analog channels and other upgraded services
 to all properties.
"This acquisition represents a significant and potentially lucrative
addition to our portfolio of serviced properties," said Rob Solomon, CEO of
USOL Holdings. "The transaction also expands our relationship with several of
our existing property ownership and management partners, and it establishes us
with many new owners with which we hope to do additional business. Houston is
already a major USOL market and this acquisition, which nearly doubles our
Houston-based operational passings, also serves to expand our position in that
 market."
Austin-based USOL Holdings provides integrated telecommunications and
entertainment services to the residential real estate industry. Its
subsidiary, U.S. OnLine, provides local and long distance telephone services,
cable television and high-speed Internet access, in a single package at
competitive prices, all with the convenience of a single monthly invoice to
residents of MDUs. U.S. OnLine provides its services in seven major markets
-- Austin, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Denver, Houston, Portland, San Antonio and
Washington, D.C. -- and currently serves approximately 54,455 operational
passings. USOL Holdings also owns TheResidentClub, which develops Internet
platforms that provide a range of private-labeled online solutions for MDU
 communities and other residential markets.

Statements contained in the news release that are not historical facts are
forward looking statements as that term is defined in the Private Securities
Litigation Reform Act of 1995. Such forward-looking statements are subject to
